Steve Rhoades President and Chief Executive Officer
Mr. Rhoades joined the Corporation on May 1, 2008 as President and Chief Executive Officer of the Corporation. Most recently, Mr. Rhoades was employed by Advanced Energy Industries, Inc. from September 2002 through 2007; on December 19, 2005, Mr. Rhoades was appointed Chief Operating Officer of Advanced Energy. Previously, Mr. Rhoades was Vice President, Corporate Development at Portera Systems. Prior to Portera Systems, he held senior positions at Lam Research, Trikon Technologies and Applied Materials. Mr. Rhoades holds BS and MS Degrees in Physics from the University of Illinois.
Leo Casey Vice President and Chief Technology Officer
Dr. Casey joined SatCon in June 2000 and is Vice President and Chief Technology Officer. He is a Power Electronics Practitioner with experience in power systems, power circuit topologies, analog and digital circuit design, power device technology, control techniques along with manufacturing, packaging and thermal expertise.
At SatCon, Dr. Casey is involved with the design and development of electronic power products including grid-connected inverters, Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS), and most recently systems based on Silicon Carbide (SiC) Semiconductor Technology.. Previously, he developed high frequency (1-10 MHz) DC-DC converters, inverters and controls for high-torque, direct-drive, induction and variable reluctance motors, very high-voltage switching converter designs, solid state lamp ballasts, telemetry systems.
Dr. Casey was educated at the University of Auckland in New Zealand and then MIT, coming to the US as a Fulbright Scholar. He has worked in this industry since completing his graduate education and is an Editor of the Energy Conversion Transactions of the Power Engineering Society of the IEEE.
Dan Gladkowski Vice President of Administration and Secretary
Daniel E. Gladkowski joined the Corporation in 1994 as Director of Human Resources. In March 2005, Dr. Gladkowski was appointed to the position of Vice-President of Administration. In this capacity, he is responsible for the strategic direction of Corporate Human Resources and Administrative Services.
From 1980 to 1994, Dr.Gladkowski was employed by Draper Laboratory, Inc., where he served as Director of Human Resources. In this position, he was responsible for the management of all aspects of the Human Resources Department, including benefits, recruitment, compensation, human relations, college recruitment and the MIT Draper Fellow Program. In addition, he spent several years as a Division Administrator at Draper, responsible for Technical Program Management and division administration.
Prior to Draper Labs, he was employed by Exxon Research & Engineering and D.P. Parker & Associates, a technical search firm. Dr. Gladkowski received his BS degree from Marietta College and the MS and PhD degree in Chemistry from Cornell University. He also held a postdoctoral research position at Princeton University and has published in both the Scientific and Human Resources arenas.
Bill O'Donnell President of SatCon Applied Technology, Inc.
Mr. O'Donnell joined the Corporation in 1993. As the President of SatCon Applied Technology he is responsible for the project management and the technical and programmatic performance of Applied Technology's programs. Prior to joining SatCon, Mr. O'Donnell was employed at Draper Laboratory and was responsible for corporate strategic and operational planning and organizational development. In support to the Executive Council and Board of Directors of the Laboratory, Mr. O'Donnell also participated in special studies and committees for business development, planning and organizational restructuring.
Prior to joining Draper Laboratory, Mr. O'Donnell was employed by Textron Defense Systems, where he held several management positions, including Business Manager for the Surveillance Systems Business Area and the Air Force Maui Optical Station.
Mr. O'Donnell received his MS Degree from Boston University in Technology Management and a Bachelors Degree from the University of Massachusetts.
Dave O'Neil Vice President of Finance and Treasurer
Dave O'Neil joined SatCon in February of 2002 as Controller of the Electronics Division. In November of 2002 he was promoted to Vice President and General Manager of SatCon Electronics. He has provided the strategic and tactical leadership to enable the management team to turn the Electronics Division into a profitable operating unit. Mr. O'Neil holds a BS in Accounting from Bentley College, and an MBA from Suffolk University.
Prior to joining SatCon, Mr. O'Neil's career spanned over 29 years at Polaroid Corporation, with 15 years in executive level positions, including Controller. As Division Vice President and Group Controller of Global Sales and Marketing, he led a multi-cultural financial organization in restructuring the efforts required to support the Sales and Marketing teams. Mr. O'Neil also served as Division Vice President of Purchasing where he provided strategic direction and tactical leadership for the procurement of over a billion dollars worth of materials and services for multiple global manufacturing and marketing locations.
Jim O'Rourke joined the Corporation in 1994, as the Manager of Drive Systems in the Applied Technology Unit. From 1997 to 1999 he served as Vice President of Manufacturing at Beacon Power, He rejoined SatCon in 1999 as Manager of Magmotor Business Unit. In 2001, he was promoted to the position of Vice President and General Manager of SatCon Power Systems, USA .
Mr. O'Rourke has over 20 years of experience in leading design, manufacture and business development for sophisticated motors and electromechanical assemblies. From 1985-1994, Mr. O'Rourke was employed by McCord Winn/Textron, Inc., where he was the Engineering Manager before being promoted to Director of Business Development. Previously, he was employed by Damon Corporation/International Equipment Corporation Division as their Manufacturing Manager and Senior Engineer. Mr. O'Rourke attended Lowell Technical Institute and holds a BS in Industrial Engineering.
Clemens van Zeyl President of SatCon Power Systems Canada, Ltd.
Mr. van Zeyl joined the corporation in 2006. Prior to joining SatCon, he spent 15 years at General Electric where he had P&L management responsibility for GE's Large Motor division. Mr. van Zeyl was also President and CEO of Inverpower, the Canadian public company acquired by SatCon in 2001. Most recently, he was President and CEO of HERA Hydrogen Storage Systems Inc. Clemens van Zeyl has a Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Toronto and an MBA from York University.
Mr. Wagner joined the corporation in 1999, when SatCon acquired the intellectual property and assets of the Northrop Grumman Electric Vehicle Group, where he was employed at the time. At Northrop Grumman, Mr. Wagner worked in the area of heavy-duty electric and hybrid-electric power trains for transit and school buses, and the associated grid-connected infrastructure.
Prior to his electric vehicle work, Mr. Wagner was involved in the development of Underwater Electronic Systems and Acoustic Imaging at Northrop Grumman/Westinghouse. His experience includes power electronics, signal conditioning, data acquisition, digital design, microprocessors, and programming.
Mr. Wagner received BSEE and MSEE degrees from Lehigh University. He is a member of the Steering Committee for the EPRI National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Working Council, and serves on the Industrial Advisory Board of the Florida State University Center for Advanced Power Systems. Mr. Wagner is a Professional Engineer, and a member of the NSPE, IEEE, and Navy League.
